Played slowly with the metronome. Instead of standing I'm sat on a stool with the music on a stand. Much easier on my chest. 

Flute practise

I was feeling a bit better today after some blood tests and in the afternoon I picked up my flute, playing some exercises from the Trevor Wye book. 

I need to practise long tones and air control.

Rustic Dance

 Rustic Dance by Alan Ridout, from Trevor Wye 1. A bit tricky, its in F so has a Bb in it, but with most Bs as naturals.

Couple of flute pieces

Recently I played Guter Mond on alto recorder, and today I decided to play it on flute, using the same key, which meant playing low C.

Then I tried Fauré's Pavane, playing the second part in the second octave.

New instrument, Aulos Pipit

 Got this yesterday, £6 from Vinted.

Its called a Fife but its more like a keyless piccolo in C.

Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves on flute. This went a lot better than it did when I played it on clarinet the other day. Flute is way easier and more satisfying. No sheet, played from memory, just went for it and got this in one take. Boy that felt good!

Couple of flute pieces

I thought I'd get my flute out today. Its been a while but it was surprisingly easy.

Some native flute

 Playing on my Flutes of the Forest native American style flute, and first I played something from the heart, which is how NAF is usually played. 

Then I found a piece online for 5 hole NAF and learned it. Its called Land of the Silver Birch. My eyes lit up when I saw that because I've played that on my classical guitar a while ago. Its a piece in one of The Guitarist's Way books! Its a bit more difficult on NAF though, especially as its written for a 5 hole flute, so I kept the 3rd hole covered. And to be honest, I prefer playing it as a 5 hole flute anyway. It seems more authentic.

 A piece in the Brian Bonsor recorder book I have adapted first for piano by creating my own left hand part. Then adapted for flute by starting on G rather than high C.

The Fluteorder

I took the head off my flute and put the headjoint of my  alto recorder head on it. Now its either a fipple Flute or an alto recorder that goes to low C. Hmmm
