Bit of blues

Bit of blues on my cheap Jose Ferrer classical guitar. Now put aside in favour of the newer Valencia hybrid

Acoustic fun

Played some blues and chords today on the Fender DG5

Some 12 bar blues:

E7, A7 and B7, which is a tricky chord but I'm getting there.

And a nice little bluesy chord progression.

A major 7th, Eminor,(repeat both), C minor and D7

The Train, harmonica

I started the free 4 week harmonica course by Tomlin Leckie and the first piece to learn is called The Train. I've played it before but never formally learned to play it, till now.

Bit of fingerstyle guitar

I've not even touched a guitar in months, but tonight I got the urge. The Fender DG5 is in open G and I started playing slide but I need a decent brass slide. I'm using a bit of copper pipe joiner but its surface isn't flat, so I stopped that and did a bit of fingerstyle instead.

Little blues lick

Playing in open G on my Fender DG5 with a bit of slide. Immense fun!

Open D7 on Fender acoustic

I wanted to have a go at slide guitar again so I picked up my trusty old Fender DG5 and tuned it to open D7 (DADF#AC)
Sounds lush.

Blue Boy

Messing around on the Tanglewood, using a strum, stop pattern, with my capo on the second fret.

D7 thing

I read an interview with folk guitarist Martin Simpson in the last issue of acoustic magazine and he mentioned an unusual tuning which is basically banjo tuning. I retuned my guitar and found it made a nice bluesy minor sound when strummed. Open it plays a D7 chord, my kind of chord! The tuning is DADF#AC, and here's a quick recording I made, playing open then barring up the neck, fretting on the high e string with my pinky finger:

Sliding on the Tanglewood video, and a new amp!

I got myself an amp, a Fender Frontman 15G, and had a go at some slide with it today.
Heres a pic of the amp;
