 An old Irish folk tune in the School Recorder book. First I played it on the soprano. I was informed I should play it slower, so I played it again but on the alto.

 ...on my Yamaha alto, a couple from the first Brian Bonsor book and Morning Has Broken, played by ear. 

Couple of recorder pieces

 A couple of pieces I learned from the book 'From Descant to Treble' by Brian Bonsor. The second piece is in 6/8 time and was hard at first; I could not get my head around the rhythm. Well I practised it and I nailed it! Nice piece of music!

A little bit of smooth jazz on a Saturday. Still full of cold and I ran out of breath at the end.

Playing in parts, with a rhythm

I recorded a rhythm in triple time using the kids' tambourine, then I played along to it with my alto recorder. Finally I recorded over the whole lot using my soprano recorder.

And then I learned a new piece from the Brian Bonsor book I'm working through (From Descant to Alto book 1)
It's called the Bogeyman and uses a low G, which requires careful breath control to avoid cracking.

A French tune in my recorder method book, in 6/8 time. Following advice from a member of the facebook recorder group I set the metronome to 80bpm.

Following lessons in From Descant to Tenor book 1 by Brian Bonsor. I am improving on my music reading!

A fun piece, on recorder.

I heard this jazzy piece played on ukulele and I set out to learn it myself. I played the basic melody, then I thought I'd give it a go on recorder, first on soprano, then on alto!
The piece is called Ja Da by Bob Carelton.

Alto outing

I decided to get my Yamaha Alto recorder out this morning, set up my music stand and did a scale run to re-familiarise myself with it after a long absence. And I found it a delight to play! So now I'm looking for alto resources so I can get playing!

Never on a Sunday-alto recorder

This is a song from a 1960s film called Never on a Sunday. I heard it played on Tuba on instagram and I hunted it down on youtube, watching numerous videos and then picking out the notes. I played it on my Yamaha YRA312B Alto recorder.

Glissando on a recorder

My Alto recorder is very easy to play compared to the soprano -I believe its The One For Me.
Anyway I thought I'd have a go at a glissando, something that I thought was not possible on a recorder, but it definitely is. I did do a full scale glissando prior to this but it didn't sound great...

And then there were 3!

Yesterday I was sent a Yamaha Alto recorder, as a gift, and it's so nice sounding. Nicer than the soprano and much easier to play than the tenor.

Song For Guy first attempt

This is my first video of my keyboard playing. Its very cramped in there so getting a good camera angle isnt easy-you have to share the view of my Tarantula tanks too.
After a brief watch of a tutorial that a friend made for 'Song For Guy' by Elton John I had a go at the first verse. I'd had a few good runs with no mistakes, then the camera was rolling and I hit bum notes!!
